Aston Old Eds 2nds 5 Burton 'A' 25 on 10th November 2007

With Russell Banton’s late cry-off and a lack of directions a somewhat dishevelled Burton ‘A’ team arrived at Suunybrook Avenue to play Aston O.E’s intending to continue their current run of wins.

The first half was a closely fought contest with the home side taking an early lead thanks to an unconverted try but just before half-time Burton struck back when Ian Cartwrtight landed a thirty metre penalty. But before the whistle could sound for the break a powerful run by Rich Culley saw him touch down for a try and so Burton reached half-time leading 8-5.

Unhappy coach Andy Peach rang the changes during the break bringing on Karl English and Pete Baum in the backs and this appeared to up the pace of the Burton side and have an immediate impact that put Burton on the front foot. This increase in pace certainly created problems for the hosts as first Ian Cartwright scored a try that he converted himself to increase Burton’s lead to 15-5. But the best move of the game saw Steve Cramp sprint the length of the field before off loading to the supporting Sean Green who dived over the line for yet another try that Cartwright converted. To complete Burton’s scoring Cartwright then continued his fine kicking form when he added a further penalty and this gave Burton messy but fine 25-5 victory.
