Burton 'B' 19 Edwardians 2nds 20 on 20th October 2007

After giving the opposition a three point lead from a penalty straight after the kick-off Burton soon buckled down some hard graft to take play into Edwardians half, and with Burton’s forwards driving for the line John Collett powered over for a try. Pat Winter converted to put his side 7-3 in the lead, but this was short lived as the visitors stormed back up field to get a converted try for themselves and re-take the lead after they were helped by some strange refereeing decisions and Burton’s own lack of awareness. But on the stroke of half time John Collett again broke out of a maul to dive over for his second try and give Burton a 12-10 lead at the break.

The second half saw Burton being continually being penalised for disputing decisions and this back chat cost them dear as they were marched back from the opposition 22 to their own before the visitors scored another converted try to go back into the lead. Burton took play back into the opposition half with a flowing backs move that saw Lee Gilleland score in the corner for Winter to convert to put the score in Burton’s favour at 19-17. Once again back chat cost Burton dear and a series of penalties again saw them be forced back down field before finally giving Edwardians an easy kick at goal on the Burton 22. The visitors duly accepted this gift like the one in the first minute and so won 19-20.
