Burton 'B' 70 Essington 2nds 0 on 15th September 2007
For their first game of the season Burton ‘B’ XV played at Essington and despite some late player problems produced a fantastic display of attacking rugby that gave Burton a resounding victory. With the ‘A’ XV having left the late arrival of Gavin Worth and Tian Ellis provided a welcome boost for the Burton side, especially with Ellis helping himself to a hat trick of tries. Although struggling for players in certain positions the Burton team put in a dominant performance with Mark Topliss scoring two tries and Sam Large, Gavin Worth, Phil MacFarlane and Matt Coombes all getting a try apiece. While Pat Winter not only scored a try but also added six conversions and a penalty to give him a personal tally of 20 points. So with 70 points in the bag without reply this result gave Burton a great start to the season thanks to an excellent all round team effort.
