Kenilworth Colts 32 Burton Colts 17 on 22nd September 2007

A well drilled Kenilworth colts side took an early lead with a converted try, but Dave Archer soon levelled the scores when he finished off a well worked backs moves by scoring midway out and adding the extra points himself. For the rest of the half it was the home side who enjoyed the best of the play, despite the efforts of Alex Tuckwell, Dan Eastwood and Lewis Brooks, as they increased their lead to 22-7 at the break.

Just after the restart Burton played their best rugby of the match and gained some excellent territory and even though Kenilworth tried to clear their kicks were always dealt with by full back Sam Hanson and Will Peach, who continually ran the ball back at the home defence. Burton’s efforts were rewarded when Archer again scored a converted try and also landed a penalty to take Burton’s score to 17 points. But Kenilworth rallied and added further scores to run out worthy winners with a score line of 37-17 that didn’t really do justice to the closeness of the game.
