Lichfield 24 Burton Colts 21 on 23rd February 2008
Another fixture change saw Burton Colts travelling to Lichfield and after a slow start Lichfield, playing with the wind, took an early lead with a try. But a magnificent run by Jon Parkinson saw him cover some 50 metres before running through the full back to score a try that Will Peach converted. This put Burton in the lead at 7-5 and this score stayed the same until after the break.
With the advantage of the wind Burton expected to dominate play but Lichfield had other ideas and they scored first to retake the lead. But some excellent kicking by Peach saw him provide some good attacking positions for Burton. From one of these Peach crashed through three defenders to ground the ball for a try before converting it and giving his team a 14-12 lead. Lichfield pressed forward and once again the lead-changed hands as they scored an unconverted try to take a 17-14 lead.
Burton soon struck back when Parkinson again ran from inside his own half to race passed all the defenders and score under the posts. Once again Peach converted to give Burton a 21-17 lead and only minutes to play. With Burton trying to extend their lead Lichfield intercepted and got a final try that was converted to snatch victory away from the hard working Burton team.
