Desperate for a victory Burton pulled out all the stops in this game against Halesownians and came away worthy victors by 55-0. Burton, hampered by a late arrival, started slowly but soon settled into form as they produced quick ball from driving mauls and some excellent cross field kicks saw Robert Beddard, Dan Eastwood and Jack Bartram (twice) finish off the moves with pin point accuracy.  

After the break Burton kept up the intensity and Dominic Taylor, Dave Archer and Beddard added further scores. Archer’s boot was also on target as the score reached the fifty-point mark. But Burton had saved the best for last and from their own line a passing movement of some twenty odd passes saw Burton surge up field before ‘Taff’ Jones touched down in the corner to give Burton a final score of 55-0 and a very satisfactory victory.
