Wolverhampton 7 Burton 13 on 10th November 2007
Wolverhampton played most of the rugby in the first half of this game, but it was Burton who took a lead into the break thanks to a beautifully struck penalty from Ben Marshall that sailed between the uprights from the 10-metre line.
The second half Burton upped their game and despite having to defend stoutly for an early spell when the hosts scored their only points with a converted try in the corner it was the visitors who eventually rallied and demonstrated the better teamwork. Burton began to realise that they could outplay their opposition with a belief that was shown in better scrummaging, rucking and mauling. Will Peach closed the gap with a well struck penalty before Dan Eastwood, Adam Brooks and Jon Parkinson set about the opposition with a massive scrummaging effort. This was allied to the backs chasing every ball and putting pressure on the home defence whenever they could. With the home full back caught in possession Burton got a 5 metre scrum and Parkinson picked up to feed Phil Harris who fired out a pass to right wing Jack Sharkey who sped over into the corner to score. Peach’s touchline conversion added the extra points and gave Burton a well-earned 13-7 victory.
