Burton Colts 11 Wolves Colts 19 on 8th September 2007

For their first game of the season Burton came up against a well-organised Wolverhampton team and with players absent on first team duty Burton lacked application and organisation. This was quickly noticeable when Wolves got an early try following a mix-up in the Burton defence. Burton replied with a well-struck penalty from Ben Marshall from some 30 metres. But Burton’s poor structure allowed Wolves in for a second and third score before Marshall again added another penalty to take the score to 19-6 at half time.

Burton made many changes for the second half and after some persistent attacking Danny Smith eventually dived over in an acrobatic style to give Burton a further score. But this was not enough as Wolves held out to take the game 19-11.
