Woodrush 27 Burton 12 on 20th October 2007

With a car containing three of their players (I don't know exciting isn't it:- webmaster) Burton were forced into some last minute reshuffling before the start of the game. Although the Burton forwards set up some good platforms play was difficult with Burton stuck in their own half and eventually the well drilled home side scored a try. Lewis Brooks was enjoying the extra space around him at fullback and he opened Burton’s account with a solo kick ahead that he followed up and charged down to score to keep Burton back on terms. But the home side soon hit back with another try just before the break.

After the break Burton kept up pressure on the Woodrush line but could not turn this into points and the home side scored again after they cleared their lines. Ben Cook and Alex Tuckwell worked tirelessly at the breakdowns and with skipper Dan Eastwood leading the way Burton’s pack won some excellent ruck ball. This allowed Will Peach to put out a stream of long passes and from one of these he found Lewis Brooks darting up at pace to side-step his way through the home defence for a try that Ben Marshall converted. But these 12 points weren’t enough as Woodrush scored more tries to finish worthy winners at 27-12.
