Burton 38 Eastleigh 17 on   April 27th 2008

Burton U13’s ended the season in style with a 38-17 win on Peel Croft against Hampshire tourists Eastleigh.

The Crofters kicked off and were punished immediately as Eastleigh ran in a try then within minutes had scored a second to take a 12-0 lead. The hosts came back into contention with centre Lawrence Green showing pace to score twice and Mark McRobbie converting one to level the scores 12-12 at the interval.

Centre Green finished a break by fly half Ben Grimsdell to record his hat trick with Robbie Cresswell Howe converting to put Burton ahead. Eastleigh replied with an unconverted score but this proved to be their last of the game.

Centre Anthony Dicker extended the Crofters lead with a try converted by Sam Tebbs and Cresswell Howe powered over in the corner.

Burton’s backs looked dangerous as they passed the ball along the line and Green sealed a fine team performance with his fourth try converted by Oliver Phillips to end Burton’s season with an emphatic victory.
