On Sunday Burton under 14's were again able to field two sides involving a total of 36 players acros the two fixtures.
Burton 0 Uttoxeter 50 on Oct 28th 2007
In the first game at home to Uttoxeter, Burton came up against a side which included a number of over aged players and Burton struggled to match them physically. However it was poor tackling from the Burton lads which allowed Uttoxeter to score a number of breakaway tries. The final score Burton 0 Uttoxeter 50.However despite the score Burton continued to compete throughout the match and the Burton pack competed better at the breakdown as the game went on.
Melbourne 5 Burton 30
In the second game Burton played Melbourne away. Burton put in an excellent performance. The Burton pack dominated throughout and stopped Melbourne enoying much possession. In the first half Burton took a 17 -0 lead thanks to a hat trick of tries from Josh Wilson and a succesful conversion from James Gibbons. Tom Bunting and Henry Whitfield combined well with Whitfield clearing pressure with some excellent kicks from Burton's 22.In the second half Burton played against a strong wind and Melbourne did start to show they had some class backs.
However it was Burton who added to the score with a Gibbons penalty kick. Melbourne then scored an excellent try and showed they could be dangerous with the ball in hand. Will Turner came in to the pack and scored an excellent try from the back of a ruck .The final passage of play saw the ball moved down the line well to set up Billy Holdsworth to score his first ever try against his old side.
