Tamworth 0 Burton 5 on   Sept 23rd 2007

On Sunday Burton's under 14's played their first league match of the new season against Tamworth. It was always going to be a competitive and closely fought match and so it proved.

In the first half Burton showed great commitment and really only allowed Tamworth scraps of possesion . However, poor handling prevented Burton from really capitalising on this. In the second half Tamworth raised their game , but this inspired even more determined defence from each and every Burton player . Burton were a little indisciplined at the breakdowns and started to give too many penalties away.

However , ironically, it was a Tamworth penalty which would swing the game to Burton. Tamworth elected to take what looked a relatively simple kick for goal, however the kick went to the left of the upright. Burton kicked clear of their lines but the ball was collected by the tamworth fullback who attempted to chip over Burton's Henry Whitfield . Whitfield caught the ball and then ran from his own 22 to score the decisive try.

Again the whole of the Burton team gave everything they had to keep out the Tamworth onslaught
