Latest news letter for Burton Under 15's
18th February 2007
It seems like weeks since we last saw a performance like todays. The will to win was very evident and in getting the basics right the lads showed themselved once again what they are capable of. We have plenty of tough games coming up in the next few weeks , by design , and plenty of opportunity to build on this good win.
Thanks to the caterers for their help in the kitchen today. The food prepared was , by all accounts , exceptional today !
Please could everyone make training over the next five weeks. Everyome leads busy lives but we have an opportunity in five weeks time to retain the County title. This will not happen by simply turning up on the day and hoping for the best. We will need to be well prepared and as we have games every Sunday in the foreseeable future any training we do can only happen on a Thursday night
Next Sunday Feb25th we have a double header. One team will play Hinckley kick off 10.30 am . This team will need to meet at the club by 9.45 at the latest. At 11.30 am another team will play Ilkeston. Could the players selected for the Ilkeston match come down to the pitch by 11 am at the latest. They are very welcome to come down and join in with the warm up for the first match and watch. We need to know if you are not going to be there. If you receive this e-mail could you let Kev know if you are going to be absent. Please do not just not turn up. We clearly need a large pool of players to make this work although we anticipate that a few may play in both games. Once we know who is available we will send out the squads for both games mid week so please let Kev know by Tues if you cannot play next Sunday.
On Sunday March 4th we are away at Newcastle. Sunday March 11th home to Stoke. There are County games on this Sunday and all our County representatives will be away. On Sunday March 15th we will be away to Derby now and the Sunday after , March 25th , is our Cup Final at Lichfield.
During the next couple of weeks I will be collecting the Canada £150 deposits. Our Canadian tour party now totals 78 whicj includes 28 players.
Could those who have not yet paid their balances for the Norfolk tour please do so. We need the money in the account. We are lined up to play both the teams who played in last years County final - easy or what ?
On Friday March 9th there is a fashion show at the club to raise funds foe the Canada tour. Everyone who played today was given 5 tickets to sell. £2.50 each. Please sell these and pass monies collected to Jan Meares-Davies. I'm told the evening starts at 8pm . Jan tells me there will be some very good buys to be had - where have I heard that before ?
On Saturday April 28th we are holding a players and parents end of season Dinner and awards at Hilton House Hotel. A flyer went out earlier in week. Please keep this evening free as we obviously would like to get everyone down for this.
I am making enquiries re booking the YHA at Ingleton for the August Bank Holiday week-end. There will be an opportunity for those who wish to "do" the Yorkshire Three Peaks. We will set up other activities for those wishing something less strenous.
Over and above this I intend climbing Snowdon again during the Summer , hopefully in better weather than we had last August Bank Holiday. There and back in a day. Leave Rolleston at 6am , climbing by 9.30am , back down by 3 ish and back in Rolleston by 6 ish. If anyone is interested let me know.
Sorry this is a bit long but a bit of information to get out.
Paul
