Leicester Vipers 0 Burton Rhinos 44 on Nov 25th 2007

Burton Rhinos under 15’s travelled to Leicester Vipers RFC, a team who unlike the Rhino’s have been used to a winning streak of recent.

The Rhino’s, this week playing without the guidance of their influential coach and replaced by his son Dave Titley, started the game at a tempo which the Vipers could not compete with. Fast rucking allowed scrum half Deaville to keep shipping the ball out to the support players. Aldridge playing at Fly half influenced the pace of the game and kept the game alive. The pace of the game allowed Full back Upton to run in the first try, a big achievement having only just recovered from his sick bed and he even notched up another try before half time together with his rival Jack McKendrick who didn’t want to be left out of the leading try scorer league.

In the second half George Burton, also back from injuries, scored a superb try after a grand effort by the pack who rolled a maul for ten metres allowing Burton to slide around the edge. His second try came from a series of the  Rhino’s traditional rucking  phases which ended with Deaville feeding Burton who escaped down the flanks.

All in all,Burton never looked like losing this game and ensured that the pace didn’t  slow down, their heads were high throughout the second half and even brought on some flair which has been lacking in the Rhino’s recent games. Luke Upton kicked a lovely high ball over the Vipers backs allowing Tom Turner to run through and scoop it up for a try. Then, only moments later,Turner repeated this tactic when Aldridge chipped over for his number eight to score his second try.

The final score of 44-0 has hopefully set up the Rhino’s for a run of luck over the forthcoming festive season which leads up to their next league fixture in the new year.
