Burton 29 Handsworth 0 on   Sept 23rd 2007

This was a very hard, physical game where Handsworth competed for the full 70 minutes. All credit to Burton who stuck at there tasks and kept a clean sheet for the second week running.

Ball handling skills across the whole team need improving, however the support play and getting into scoring positions prior to dropping/knocking the ball on was excellent. Rucking this week was much better and we produced good lineout ball for most of the game.

First half down hill Burton worked good ball to the backs who caused many problems for the Handsworth full back and back line. Handsworth fought hard at all of the contact areas however they rarely escaped from their own half to mount any serious challenges.

3 Tries scored and 2 converted meant Burton were well in control at 19 - 0 at the break and ready to face the up hill second half.

Handsworth, we knew from the the start, would work hard and never give up and they came out firing on all cylinders for the second half. The whole game was very physical, which is all good practice for the coming weeks. Burton scored 2 more unconverted tries, however more pleasing was the fact that the Handsworth team were again pinned back for long periods in their own half.

Only once did Handsworth threaten the Burton try line and some great covering tackles and robbing ball at contact ensured that Burton regained control and went forward again.

A couple of knocks and bangs meant that Luke Day and Steve Cooke knew they had been in a game, however everyone stuck together even when Handsworth upped the physicality - well done to all players.
