Wolverhampton 43 Burton 25 on   January 20th 2008

Burton U17's travelled across the midlands to a very wet Wolverhampton pitch, which was kindly made available at the local Highfields school. Little did anyone expect a feast of try's and entertaining rugby on such an awful day and boggy pitch conditions.

Both teams battled hard throughout the entire game. There was an excellent spirit from all players and following a week or so of inactivity it was nice to see that everyone wanted to play some decent rugby - well done both teams.

Burton took an early lead and looked to gain the upper hand, however at half time Burton were only 3 points up and now they had to compete up hill into the wind and rain. With 15/20 minutes remaining it was only 1 point the difference with Wolverhampton leading 26 - 25.

The Burton coaches once again  managed to get their entire squad onto the pitch, however with time running out and with having to chase the game, a couple of sloppy late converted try's were conceded, which gave the score line a wider margin than the excellent close play deserved!

One or two players picked up knocks and bangs with Rikki Hooper probably coming off worse than most. Also David Dew had a good game on return from his injury sustained before Christmas.

Burton must now turn their attention to the forthcoming county cup final against Lichfield on the 3rd of February when a massive team effort will be the order of the day.
