Burton 20 Wolverhampton 20 on   Nov 11th 2007

23 fit players were available for selection today against a strong well organised Wolverhampton side. 22 players managed to get onto the pitch, which is excellent, however the Burton coaches must be wondering what they need to do to secure the win?

After a good warm up and with excellent attitude from all players Burton started with real pace, power and commitment. This high tempo and confident start resulted in an early converted try, however instead of signaling that good things were to come for Burton it seemed to have the reverse effect.

Throughout the game Burton scored three cracking trys but failed to finish off 3 or 4 clear cut chances. In addition some poor tackling gifted Wolverhampton two trys and with only 10 to 15 minutes remaining Burton were 5 points adrift  at 15 - 20 and facing a very likely defeat.

As if struck by the reality and seriousness of their situation the Burton team now started to play some fantastic rugby. For a full 10 minutes the Wolverhampton try line was under siege and Burton managed to pull level with a great unconverted try in the far corner (thank you power lines). Further chances for Burton went begging towards the end and everyone on both sides were probably relieved to hear the whistle blow for a drawn game.

Burton U17's need to play more consistent, high tempo rugby for longer periods of the game, especially against hard working and well organised teams such as Wolverhampton and next weeks opponents away at Burntwood.

Keep up the good work look to improve a few percent in all areas and the results will start to come our way.
