Burton 0 Derby 14 on Sept 30th 2007

Burton batled well against a big Derby side conceding 1 try in each half. Burton came very close to scoring themselves on two occasions, player of the day Ewan Collins making his debut for Burton weaved in and out through several derby players to be tackled just inches from the try line, and Benjamin whitehouse used his power to drive through Derby only to be stopped and tackled into touch on the try line. Joshua Thorman and Tim Robinson put in several try saving tackles whilst Jacob Brown and Finn Baxter were dynamic in attack making several weaving runs out of defence.

Three tries from Derby in the first 10 minutes dealt a killer blow to Burton which made the game a huge uphill battle for Burton. Burton woke up and improved as the game went on, the second half saw Derby only cross the line once to score their 4th try of the game. Brave tackling from Burton and sheer determination and never say die attitude kept the Derby onslaught at bay and kept the score down. Charlie Wootten and tai fellows tackled well and Harry Pickett made a promising return after Injury.
