Burton not out of the starting blocks in the first 5 minutes found themselves 2 tries down and suddenley realising a big uphill battle against a very strong Sandbach side. Burton battled through the rest of the first half to keep the score at 2 - 0. In the second half Burton piled on the pressure with great surging runs from Hooker Joe Thompson. A rare attack from Sanbach saw a spilled pass picked up by centre Thomas Benjamin he sprinted through the Sanbach defence only to be stopped just short of the try line, the Burton forwards were quick in support and prop Josh Greenwood picked up the ball from the base of the Ruck and powered his way over the line to score the try. Burton continued with the pressure but were unable to break through to tie the score.

Burton's Development team played against the same strong Sandbach team and can be very proud of their performance. Burton with several new players to the game held out well in the first half only conceeding two tries. Tai Fellows put in some good tackles along with winger Aidan Hopkinson. In the second half Burton conceeded a further 4 tries but had their moment of pure magic when Scrum half Thomas Benjamin passed out to Fly Half Ben Whitehouse, Ben passed to Centre Tai Fellows who broke through the line made ten yards and then popped the ball back inside to Ben whitehouse who used his strength to power through the Sandbach defence and with only 1 player to beat he drove into him knocked the defender off his feet and dived over the line to score a terrific try. Ben Higginson playing his debut game for Burton played well against strong opposition.
