Under 12's v Melbourne on November 25th 2007

 Game 1: Melbourne 21 Burton    0

Burton kicked off and immediately put Melbourne under pressure with some strong scrums and passing movement. This was nearly converted into a try in the corner only for Jordan Sturgess just to be pushed in touch.

Melbourne then fought themselves back into the game and there superior strength began to show as they pushed over for a try mid way through the first half. 7-0. Burton hopes were then hit by an injury to Lewis Sanders, who was carried off with a knee injury. Even though Burton were under serious pressure they held out to half time just managing to hold the ball up when Melbourne seemed certain to score.

Early in the second half Melbourne scored again after a strong drive went over in the corner. 14-0. Burton’s woes were completed when a charged down kick followed by a dubious penalty led to another try for Melbourne. 21-0

Game 2: Melbourne 7 Burton 0

Burton lined up for the second game hoping to get some pride back after the defeat in the first game.

From the outset this game was a lot more evenly matched with Burton in particularly providing some good running rugby, in the shape of Alex Nesbitt. Unfortunately though it was Melbourne who scored first after a strong drive forced the pack over. 7-0
Burton continued to battle and tackle hard, with a fine last ditch tackle by Jordan Sturgess stopping Melbourne doubling their lead.

The second half continued much like the first, with a hard fought battle taking place between two evenly matched sides. Burton were once agreed struck by injury problems as Isobel Briggs was carried off with a leg injury. Burton tried all they could to come back into the game but could just not find enough to be able to break down the Melbourne defence.

Unlucky to both Burton sides, two hard fought contests with no lack of commitment shown from any players.
