Burton v Market Bosworth on 28th October 2007
Match 1 - Market Bosworth 15 Burton 15
A good first game on this chilly morning. First blood went to Burton with an excellent first try by Ethan Lowing, with superb support from George Able, who also defended well when Bosworth scored their counter try.
Yet another super try scored by Ethan Lowing, again with support from George Able and with the addition of Elvis Drinkwater.
The last Burton try was fabulously executed by Ben Gilleland with a sweeping move which included Jacob, George and Lucy. Zak pushed the ball forward to Ben who easily passed the touch line for Burton's third and final try.
Match 2 - Market Bosworth 20 Burton 15
Some excellent defensive work from Arron and Charles in the first half, even though Bosworth pushed forward with relentless force.
After a mediocre first half for their offence, three tries from Ethan Lowing, Jacob Ruprecht and Matthew Baker saved Burton their blushes when they managed to break through Bosworth's almost bulletproof defensive wall. Four brilliant tries from Market Bosworth cancelled out Burton's brace.
Match 3 - Market Bosworth 10 Burton 40
A brilliant first try by Elvis Drinkwater started Burton's relentless onslaught of tries for this, their best game by far.
Some excellent support by the whole team helped Zak to score an easy second try shortly followed by a third by Burton. Ben Gilleland scored the final try of the first half, to take Burton's tally to four.
The second half started the same way as the first half with some tight offensive play as Jo passed the ball to Zak for his fifth try of the game. Zak forced a sixth try as Bosworth's defence was crushed by the whole of the Burton defence. Jo dodged and dummied his way through to score a seventh and then Ben finished proceedings with one of his special powerhouse efforts.
This was a truly outstanding display by the Burton under 7's as they gelled together to become a force to be reckoned with!
Match 4 - Market Bosworth 20 Burton 10
Even some strong defensive play from James and Arron couldn't stop Bosworth from dictating this, the last of the games for this week. Bosworth won with four tries, but some great runs from Zak and Jo produced two perfectly executed tries to finish Burton's visit to Bosworth's battlefield!
Overall, some brilliant individual performances from Burton and even though it was decidedly chilly, the team performed without a single moan or groan.
I'm sure that Burton can build on these performances to further improve on their excellent result tally so far.
