Burton @ Nottingham on 13th January 2008

The Under 7's travelled to Nottingham Rugby Club and played 4 matches.  Two were against Nottingham and two against Kesteven.  The Burton youngsters had a great day with one win and 3 draws.  Despite the cold wet weather, they put on a great show of determination, enthusiasm and team effort.

Nottingham 35  Burton 35

Their first game against Nottingham was the first draw of the day with Ethan Matthews and Matthew Baker pushing hard, ably supported by Ben Gilleland.  Despite Nottinghams strong defence Joe Dutton forced his way through, with the rest of the team supporting well.

Kesteven 30  Burton 30

The next game was against Kesteven, with Burton strong in defence. Ethan Matthews was the first Burton youngster to score, rapidly followed by Matthew Baker.  Ben Gilleland followed up with a try after a strong push.  Jacob Marshall was next to score, in spite of a strong Kesteven defence.  Matthew Baker and Ben Gilland ended the game with a try a piece in the dying minutes.

Kesteven 15  Burton 15

The 3rd game was against Kesteven, resulting in a 15-15 draw.  Jacob Ruprecht scored twice and Charles Kinson once in a game which showed some good attacking play from both sides, but periodically the game was scrappy with a marked lack of teamwork.

Nottingham 15  Burton 20

The final game against Nottingham was a close win for Burton, 20-15.  Elvis Drinkwater scored twice with good tries from Charles Kinson and Robert Patton.  The whole team showed determination in attack and defense, with Kesteven being a strong opponent.
