Under 8's v Willenhall on February 3rd 2008
Firstly Burton must thank Willenhall, who turned up short of players, and secondly they must thank their own players who volunteered to play for Willenhall.
Burton Cougars 5 Willenhall 20
Burton Cougars started the day and the cold biting wind seemed to effect the Crofters and their normally safe hands let them down, Willenhall took advantage of this and, despite some dogged Burton defence, soon found themselves 3 tries up. The second half saw an improvement, J Johnson again showing some good running. The Crofters finally found some form and after some good flowing rugby S Jones scored. Burtons attacks started to grow, and they continually broke through the Willenhall defence, only to have a lack of support players for the final pass. Willenhall finished the match with a late try.
Burton Lions 20 Willenhall 20
The lions started well with some good flowing rugby. Their first try coming from a training ground scissors move that saw M Pride slice a confused Willenhall defence. Yet more confident rugby saw some long passing and hard running and it wasn't long before M Pride finished another move from the training field. C Hutchison was the next to benefit from some good teamwork, touching down after some good passing put him in the clear. Burtons defence was as solid as ever and they ended the half 15-0 up. The second half saw Burtons defence snoozing and this put them on the back foot, which nullified any attacking options they had and Willenhall soon found themselves level. One of Burtons few 2nd half attacks saw C Hutchison score, only for Willenhall to again score. With the match drawing to a close L Ritchie found himself race clear, and although the defender missed the tag Ritchie was desperatly unlucky to be knocked off balance and spill the ball.
