Burton Cougars faced tough opposition in their pool with the results not reflecting the way they played. Z salt, J Johnson and C Mason again showing powerful running, S Jones played his best matches to show some good support play and defensive work. N Stone turned in a career best performance with some outstanding support play, passing and defensive work.

The Lions breezed through their pool scoring at ease. By far the most impressive display of the season with open running rugby, excellent support play and a solid defence that forced their opponents to concede ground and then the ball.

The final started at a furious pace with N Collett going over for a try after some impressive team work. Lichfield breached Burtons fortress style defence immediately though. Again Burton took the lead through a well worked M Pride try. Again Lichfields reply was almost instantaneous. With the scores level the match settled a little, another score by M Pride followed by a Lichfield score saw the scores 15 a piece at half time. With such a tight first half the game could of gone either way, but Burton stepped up through the gears and quickly took control of the match. The Crofters defence once again solidified, forcing Lichfield back, before finally forcing the error, which Z Fellows pounced upon to gallop in a try. Now well and truly in the groove, it wasn't long before the crofters increased their lead with another M Pride score. Slipping into cruise control and delighting their fans with flowing rugby Burton ran in another try through J Mumford. Lichfield scored a consolation try to end the match and season on a high for the U 8 squad from Burton.
