Burton v Lichfield on   Oct 21st 2007

Burton hosted local neighbours Lichfield for the first time this season on Sunday As in previous meetings between the teams a close competitive game was expected For the first time Burton under 8's were able to field two teams, a regular team and a new development team.

Game 1 Burton 20 Lichfield 15

Burtons regular team were first to start with new skipper Tyler Smith at the helmBurton started nervously and after several unforced errors settled down to a now familiar style and before to long Niall Collett made a good crossfield run to touch down after some solid support and passing. Lichfield hit back almost immediately after some wonderfulsidestepping to cut through what is a fantastic Burton defenceBurton second try was started and completed by William Bridgen who has once again found his form However Lichfield wasted no time in bringing the scores level  to end the half 10-10Starting the second half Slowly Burton conceded an early try to now trail 10-15 this now galvanized Burton into actionevery player  defended and attacked with discipline and resulted in a try by Connor Hutchison who received the ball from Niall Collett who was over the try line but had been tagged and could therefore not touch down, shortly afterwards Connor Hutchison ran in a far more difficult score to end a great move by Burton

Game 2 Burton 20 Lichfield 20

Burton's new development team  consisted of several players for which this was there first or second game ever.Burton again started proceedings and although going down to an early Lichfield score showed  a fantastic attitude to the game, Burtons defence was again very solid with some superb tagging by all, However Lichfield ran in another try to make the score 0-10. Burton remained disciplined and  focusedand after several restarts Jake O'Toole ran  straight  at speed to score just before the break. From the restart Lichfield ran in another score to now make it 5-15, despite the score Burtons confidence was rising and they looked like a well established team this was apparent when debutant Liam Ritchie ended a fantastic team move to score Burton second try,Once again Lichfield went on the attack and were held by a good defence repelling several attacks from only 2 meters out, but eventually running in there forth score to make it 10-20, Burton now continued to press Lichfield and with only 2 minutes remaining Tyler Smith who had remained in the background defending stepped forward to score a brace and level the score at 20-20.

A special well done to all of the players and it is to be noted that Burton did not fall foul of the 7 TAG rule once in either game!
