Burton v Sandbach on   Nov 11th 2007

Burton 40-20 Sandbach

Burton started well and soon found good speed running and passing to mesmerise the opposition. 2 attacks that saw some good support running and some good passing saw Z Fellows bag himself a quick double. Burtons defence was impressively solid and gave the opposition little chance to mount any decent attacks, often forcing Sanbach back after their 7 tag sequence, M Pride capitalising on spilled Sandbach ball to score. The 2nd half saw Sandbach mount an attack, Burton, in their eagerness kept getting themselves offside, this allowed Sandbach to get closer and closer until they touched down. Burton bounced back with a N Collette try, followed by a M Pride try. Z Fellows, rockets firmly attached after his holiday, sprinted clear for his hat-trick try. Followed by a N Collette double, who also completed his hat-trick. Sanbach scored 2 further tries during the 2nd half.

Burton 30-15 Sandbach

Burtons development squad played the second game, with old ed, N Stone leading them. It was a tentative start for Burton, who took a while to find their feet. Once the correct gear was selected Burton started to flow, the newcomers showed some good hands to give O Ballyn enough space to sprint through and score. Some good defence saw Burton secure yet more ball which found the hands of Conner Hutchison, who showed he has a turn of pace, and he blew the defence away to score. He quickly followed this up with another try, before Sanbach broke through for a score. Callam Hutchison was then on the end of another good Burton attack to score. Connor Hutchison yet again found himself in the right place to score his hat-trick try. 2 tries for Sandbach followed, but the last word ended with the Hutchisons, this time Callam scoring his 2nd try.

Burton 30-15 Sandbach

New and old mixed for the final match, and the squad gelled immediately, a good attack however saw Sandbach score first. Burton were straight back though and, after the wing became congested, J Mumford went on one of his diagonal runs to score in the opposite corner. Another attack saw N Collette take the ball at speed and wrong foot the defence to score. A quick score after ½ time saw the scores level. Burtons defence stayed strong though, and their attack relentless, M Pride benefiting from this by grabbing 2 tries. Another score by Sandbach kept the game close until Z Fellows and T Smith each scored to wrap up an impressive day for the young Crofters
