Burton Vets 0 Lichfield Vets 8 on 24th November 2007

For once Burton were able to keep the score to below 10 points against their neighbours Lichfield Vets, but although keeping the score low they could not manage to get any points for themselves. In a close game both sides struggled in the bitterly cold conditions and passes were continually dropped. Burton’s forwards well led by Dave Brown and supported by Chris Samways and Colin Wood were equal to their opposition but in the backs the extra pace of Lichfield was always difficult to handle. Huw Davies worked hard alongside Ian Weakford and Nigel Cookson, but even his wonderful swerving run was denied a try by the referee’s whistle. Lichfield got an early penalty goal and increased their lead when their winger raced the length of the field to score a try.
