Burton Vets became victims of a fixture mix-up on Saturday when instead of playing Willenhall 4th XV they found themselves facing a fit and young second team who wasted no team in soon establishing their superior talent on the weary legs of Burton’s ageing players. But to Burton’s credit they never gave up and battled to the end vigorously defending their lines against the never-ending surge of Willenhall pressure. Skipper Dave Brown rallied his men time and again but with each of his players giving away twenty odd years it was an impossible task from the off. The visitors soon ran in four tries and although Burton ran and chased after every ball it was all in vain as the size of their task became apparent and the visitors eventually won 36-0 as the referee blew an early final whistle.
