Wolverhampton 3rds 17 Burton Vets 7
on 1st December 2007
Back on the road again Burton Vets travelled to Wolverhampton short of two players, having supplied a prop to the beleaguered ‘A’ XV, but what they lacked in body they made up for in spirit as they battled against a well organised Wolves team. Two early home scores meant that Burton were always on the back foot but after those initial points it was Burton who won the match.
Trailing 14-0 Burton ignored this deficit and played some wonderful rugby that kept the opposition totally subdued. Ian Pullen and Huw Davies linked to provide Burton’s only points but what a try it was as the pair inter passed about a dozen times down the touch line before Pullen eventually touched down under the posts for Kev Wrathall to convert.
Unfortunately a late penalty gave Wolves another three points but credit must go to a Burton side that tackled and passed superbly throughout the game with Andy Betteridge and Colin Wood always to the fore.
